They are there before, during and after the playing of THE PLAYERS...
They are one of the main reasons the PGA TOUR relocated to the Greater Jacksonville area...
There are over 2,000 of them and the number continues to grow each year...
They are organized and their system of organization internally generates great volunteer leaders, the highest which is the Tournament Chairman who after years of service earns the right to be and to wear a "Red Coat."

With 2013 PLAYERS Tournament Chairman Robert Davis.
If you go back to 2013 when Tiger Woods won his second PLAYERS and was still the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, the Tournament Chairman was Robert Davis.
Interesting enough his father was the Tournament Chairman for the 1988 Senior TPC (Tournament Players Championship), now called the Senior Players Championship. That tournament was won by Billy Casper who the senior Davis played high school golf along with Gene Litler while growing up in San Diego.

PLAYERS volunteers come from all over the United States and from four foreign countries too!
Chairman Davis points out that it was the spirit of the volunteers of the Greater Jacksonville Open (GJO) that attracted the attention of then PGA TOUR Commissioner Deane Beman to bring the tour organization from Washington, D.C. to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. This spirit re-manifests itself every Spring as the volunteers reunite for another PLAYERS Championship. Being a volunteer is a lot of fun, you get to see a great championship up close and personal and there is a huge sense of community.
