Rio is HUGE! Went all around the city perimeter and wound up at Maracana Stadium late in the night. Lucky to find my way back to me bed in Barra da Tijuca!

Did a round trip tour of Rio yesterday by BRT bus, Metro subway, automobile & walking! Incredibly massive & diverse city! Wide open ticket booth at Olympic Park so I bought tickets to basketball, swimming & hockey events! On off Olympic Golf days of course! I came for the Olympic Golf but no more inspiring moment than watching the Olympic Torch pass by last night with my Brazilian friends! Took me back to 1996 and seeing it pass by on Route 31 in Fairport with mary & the boys, ages 10 & 12. LOL, Atlanta, home of Coca-Cola and I see they are still involved with the Olympics! Cheers to Rio and the 2016 Summer Olympics with my Carioca friends Branca, Fatima, and Paul! TROML Baby!

Celebrated the Opening Ceremonies at Olympic Boulevard in downtown Rio with my Brazilian friends Fatima, Branca, & Paul & tens of thousands other Cariocas… beautiful waterfront, massive, world-class tourist destination… you will see and hear about the just completed Museum of Tomorrow! After watching on large video screens, we were there to witness the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron in front of Candelaria Church by 14-year old Brazilian Olympic sensation Jorge Alberto Gomes. Hopefully this will put to rest any concerns over Rio hosting what are sure to be the best ever Summer Olympic Games! Has to be with golf included! Spiritual morning visiting the Union Church – Rio de Janeiro right here in Barre da Tijuca… in existence since 1886… very inspirational sermon by Senior Pastor Jay Bauman… happened to be monthly fellowship lunch… met some great people including Olympic Golf volunteers Pam & Frank… Sunday 10 am service in English… great place for worship when you are in Rio!

Okay, this is where the TROML lifestyle gets a bit scary for me… went from maybe sleeping on the beach to having two great hosts and two awesome places to stay in Rio… this second one is a 20th floor penthouse apartment for the rest of my time in Rio! TROML Baby! TROML… no expectations in the morning… and experiences beyond my imagination by nighttime… note the ship off shore… don’t mess with Brazil during these Olympic Games!

My first Olympic event was not golf! It was basketball! An exciting game with Australia starting strong, then Serbia surging and leading at halftime only to have Australia finish strong and win 95-80 though it was much closer than that! Absolutely love Olympic Park, it is gargantuan! So many venues all close together! Easy to get around in Rio, transportation is convenient and well organized.
