TPC Sawgrass; My Home Away from Home…

Here’s the highlight roll so far in 2016 and some from previous years. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes at TPC Sawgrass, Home of THE PLAYERS Championship.  2016 will be a monumental year for TPC Sawgrass and THE PLAYERS, quite like the opening of the new Clubhouse with a new May date back in 2008. THE PLAYERS 2016 is fast approaching… stay tuned…

At TPC with going around the circle CW—Cathy, Cathie, Sheryl, Bob, Emerson & yours truly…

Another enjoyable TPC night with my friend Cathy on Tuesday March 1st! Always good to see the other Cathie too and this time meet her husband Emerson. Networking night, meeting Cathy & Cathie’s other friends Sheryl & Bob from Portland, Oregon. Where of course I am heading to visit my son and do this year’s 2-week West Coast USA Golf Journey in the Northwest—Portland—Seattle—Vancouver, BC, Canada. What do you get when you combine two Cathy’s, two Oregon college guy buddies and a couple of golf nuts? A good time and hopefully a round of golf at Riverside CC in Portland. LOL!!!

The par-3 15th at Adena Golf & Country Club.

I had the most amazing experience recently visiting & playing Adena Golf & Country Club… a top Golf Digest rated golf course that opened in 2015 … spectacular views, design, and clubhouse with over-the-top hospitality… envisioned, designed and built by Canadian businessman Frank Stronach… seriously this is a masterpiece design built around two limestone quarries… I agree with 2015 Senior British Open Champion Marco Dawson “Adena is unlike any other course I have played in Florida.”

Only meats born and raised on the nearby 90,000 acre Adena Farms are served.

The Adena Grill, really a 5-star restaurant, is a culinary experience beyond compare… if you can make this place your home, do it and let me come visit you!… definitely a must-play experience if you have the opportunity! Thank you John Reger Jr and all the marvelous staff at Adena! I will be writing more about this experience once I have recovered from it, simply amazing… can’t believe the gofl course is this young…took over 600 pictures and want to publish 60 of them… here is a taste…   (Facebook Post, Andy Reistetter 2/21/16)

Trilogy Golf Club at Ocala Preserve Defines Golf’s Future

20160201_170031It is not every day that one gets to see the future and the past come together in the present. That’s what happened to me when I attended the Grand Opening of the Tripp Davis & Tom Lehman golf course at Trilogy at Ocala Preserve.

The experience took me back to my childhood and learning the game from my Dad up on the Par-3 golf course at Ely Park Municipal Golf Course in Binghamton, New York. Simple holes with a simple goal to develop my golfing skills and graduate to the “big course.”

At Trilogy at Ocala Preserve, playing the Gallery Loop of six par-3s and then the Players Course of six championship holes (four par-4s, a par-3 and a par-5 at an 18 hole equivalent of 6,732 yards) showed me golf of the future—customized to your available times, play how many holes you like, fun, good variety of holes, traditional yet visionary and a viable lifestyle for the Trilogy residents with a focus on exploring, connecting and having fun and being fit and healthy.

This concept is the real life production of what has been talked about in the golf industry for years. It’s a way to bring young and old to the game of golf, give them a fun experience and encourage them to come back. During the course of playing the six championship holes I passed by six other green complexes. With the loops-within-loops design concept there are four different course configurations or if you like an 18-hole par-3 course. The six- hole concept is validated by the United States Golf Association as evidence of their system being changed to allow the posting of a 6-hole round at Trilogy at Ocala Preserve.

With holes ranging from 155 to 520 yards, tees that are both flat and sloped to accommodate a match-play option that allows players to select the tees and holes they wish to play. Kind of like a golf version of the classic basketball game, HORSE. With 18 holes to choose from maybe five letters isn’t enough and this new golf game will go down in the annals of golf history as TRILOGY!

Experience Golf’s Future at Trilogy at Ocala Preserve!

Experience Trilogy as I did in the real-time Facebook posts below:

Heading to Ocala, Florida today to open a new Tripp Davis & Tom Lehman golf course at Trilogy at Ocala Preserve… going to be an interesting & fascinating day for sure! Here’s why… ever play one like this? http://www.trilogygolfclub.com/ocala/

Trilogy® Golf Club at Ocala Preserve redefines the game. Conceptualized by celebrated golf course designer Tripp Davis and PGA Tour star Tom Lehman, Trilogy® Golf Club at Ocala Preserve is where golf changes forever. Not only does the course include all the challenges of a traditionally-styled golf course, but its revolutionary routing provides maximum flexibility in terms of playability, challenge and time commitment. Not least of all, the course’s footprint — on 50 acres as opposed to the 100+ required by conventional, full-size courses — reduces its environmental impact. The result is a course that can be played in multiple ways, each offering a new experience.   (FB Post 2/1/16 Andy Reistetter)

Grand Opening in progress… Tripp Davis/Tom Lehman… innovative design… 4 golf courses in 1 on 50 acres… golf & a party… Andy is here! (-:   (FB Post 2/1/16 Andy Reistetter)

This is quite interesting to hear Tripp Davis & Tom Lehman describe their vision behind this revolutionary design… very excited to play Trilogy Golf Club tomorrow morning…   (FB Post 2/1/16 Andy Reistetter)

Totally new golfing experience today… revolutionary new golf course design by Tripp Davis & Tom Lehman… on a GSC Golf Skate Caddy… but with same old golf game… will be FUN! (-:   (FB Post 2/2/16 Andy Reistetter)

Great golfing experience today with my media buddies & Tom Lehman… he said my swing looks more like John Daly than Jim Furyk… LOL.. striped one down the middle & he bunkered right… then a hit a nice hosel lateral shot that he helped me find… a bit embarrassing even for me! LOL… great guy… great golf course designed by Tripp Davis & Tom Lehman… definitely has a place in the game… 6732 from the tips, 3X around the Players Loop or a challenging par 3 course… 18 well designed green complexes in all! (-:   (FB Post 2/2/16 Andy Reistetter)

Tom Lehman reveals his secret to success—”hitting the ball facing the ball”—during lunch after the Grand Opening of the Trilogy at Ocala Preserve revolutionary new golf course designed by he and Tripp Davis. Reminded me of watching golf on TV growing up and my Dad, his brothers and my older brother LP would get the golf club out of the corner and demonstrate a few swing tips… miraculously never hitting anyone or anything in our house! Here in this video John Duval, 2015 World Amateur Team USA member listens intently while golf real estate insider Scott Kauffman nods appreciatively at the end realizing this could be the swing tip to get his name on his bag like John! Toni Taylor and Her Golf MOJO Revolution…

With Toni Taylor, the leader of the Golf MOJO Revolution.

With Toni Taylor, the leader of the Golf MOJO Revolution.

I met quite an interesting person at this year’s PGA Show. Her name is Toni Taylor and she is the leader of the Golf MOJO Revolution. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia she has been making an impact on and off the golf course as a Lifetime LPGA Teaching & club Pro member and golf coach for the last 25 years. She represented British Columbia twice as a junior golfer and cites her year as a 17-year old as the pinnacle of her golfing career. Maybe part of that was being a pen pal of John Daly? With a full ride scholarship to Lamar University in Texas she gave it a go professionally but honestly admits, in hindsight, the internal side of the game—especially a horrible internal golf talking dialogue with herself while competing. As a coach she has been telling her students “don’t jam your MOJO” for the last 15 years. All of these life and golf experiences have culminated and peaked recently into the Golf MOJO Revolution. “If you are messed up internally,” she will tell you, ” it’s not going to flow externally.” Golf’s MOJO Lady can help you find your own personal key in golf and life—unlock you, activate you and get you back out there playing in a meaningful way. If you want to find the MOJO in golf and life it’s not going to happen completely without connecting with Toni Taylor and becoming a part of her Golf MOJO Revolution.

1Why in the World would ANYONE want to go to the PGA Show?

What would everyone think?

3Whoʼs the girl walking around in the Golf MOJO Revolution
T-Shirt?
Intriguing Logo…Whatʼs the KEY?
Unlock Activate Play!? Sounds Interesting? … Will anyone NOTICE or even CARE?

WELL…Turns out…YES!
Hereʼs the thing…it was an EXPERIMENT.
It was a chance to ʻWALK the TALKʼ as they say.
To test certain MINDSETS of Expectations along with preconceived Beliefs and Ideas of
what this Adventure would be like.

There was tons of input from my colleagues insisting, explaining, describing and
advising everything I needed to know about the Biggest SHOW of the Year.

4Does this sound At All Familiar….???
I decided to throw caution to the wind and have NO Expectations! No outer influence of
ANY Kind.
Experience it with a Child-like Imagination and Sense of Adventure. No Fears, Worries
or Concerns. Let the MAGIC, the MOJO Unlock…Activate…PLAY!

WOW! Did It EVER!

Many were curious and intrigued about Golf MOJO Revolution and I was invited on
PGA Sirius XM Radio and another Radio Podcast!

By NOT expecting ANY particular Outcomes, it allowed my ʻThoughtsʼ to Enjoy EVERY
Step of the Process.

The PGA Show Adventure ended up BEing…Simply AMAZING!
Highly recommend if YOU ever get the chance or want to go…
a MUST on the Bucket List.

Perhaps WE can go next Year! ʻWalking the Talkʼ Together! No Expectations and
Enjoying what it is like to BE in the MOMENT.

GolfMOJOBlk(1)This is my Vision for YOU!...We will discover Together to find Your KEY to Unlock Your
Treasure Chest
Your Golf MOJO! Unlock Activate and Play with Joy and Freedom!

‘All From One,’ Unity Amid Diversity Exhibit in South Africa…

_640 COVER PAST All From ONE

How can we go forward together if we don’t look at our past? Photo Credit: Palaeontological Scientific Trust (PAST)

On Tuesday, January 19th, 2016, Day 42 of the Golf & Life Journey to South Africa, after playing the East Golf Course of Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club, I ventured up to Pretoria to do some sightseeing.  What I saw was the PAST ‘All From One’ exhibit outside the Standard Bank offices in Rosebank.

You know how you know that a single brief interaction of a chance meeting with someone can change your life? Well this was one of those experiences with the ‘All From One’ exhibit and exhibit guide Gary Trower. It was brief but the seed was planted and of course the pictures taken for documentation purposes and future digestion of all the impacts.

With archaeologist Gary Trower at the 'All From One' exhibit in Pretoria, South Africa.

With archaeologist Gary Trower at the ‘All From One’ exhibit in Pretoria, South Africa.

While I am not a scientist in this regard, truth be known, we all do come from the same ancestors and are 99.9% alike yet why does the world focus on our differences?

‘All From One’ is the scientific base for our spiritual unity…

Here is more from the Palaeontological Scientific Trust (PAST) website and below the words are in the pictures to follow along in the exhibit just like I did during my visit to South Africa. Images courtesy of John Gurche.

I hope that you can commit to tolerance, unity, collaboration and conservation as I did that fateful day in South Africa.  We are all ‘spiritual beings living a human life,’ and ‘we are a part of nature, not apart from nature!’ TROML Baby!

The science of our origins reveals the shared African roots of all people. PAST uses Africa’s ancient fossil heritage to build African dignity, promote social cohesion and environmental conservation, inspire scientific curiosity among school-going youth, and establish African leadership in the sciences related to our origins.

‘Unity Amid Diversity.’ Cultural and physical differences ensure the uniqueness of every individual. Yet underlying this diversity is a deeply woven humanity common to all people.

Our Place in Nature. Africa’s fossil heritage shows that the environment played a major role in the evolution of life and humankind. If the pace and extent of environmental change is too rapid or large for species to adapt, some will go extinct.

Welcome to the website version of the PAST ‘All From One’ exhibition. The physical version of the exhibition opened on 10 November 2015 and is touring South Africa. It has thus far stood outside the Standard Bank offices in Rosebank, Johannesburg, the Soweto Theatre in Soweto, the Iziko South African Museum in Cape Town, and Maropeng in the Cradle of Humankind outside Johannesburg.

The exhibition is a striking structure recalling both a DNA double helix and the skeletons of two large prehistoric animals. A smaller, reconfigured version of the exhibition was produced as part of the South African Treasures exhibition at the United Nation’s World Intellectual Property Organization General Assembly in Geneva in October 2016.

_Humans part not apartThis website version of the exhibition contains similar information and some of the images from the two physical versions, plus additional information in “Dig Deeper” pages.

The ‘All From One’ exhibition draws on scientific evidence about our shared human origins and the shared origins of all life forms in order to challenge commonly held ideas about humankind and our place in nature.

You will see that you are unique, but that you share strong bonds of similarity with all other people, based on a deeply rooted common humanity. As a species, you will see we are but one twig among millions on the tree of life that sustains us all.

All told, you will see that shared origins is a potent force for tolerance, unity, collaboration and conservation.
