Day 21: Unbelievable, Sooo Close to Playing the Olympic Golf Course!!!

20Friends of the Face… 0 for 1 playing the Olympic Golf Course (OGC)… Nearly in the field for the IGF’s President Golf Day today… and then Michael Jackson shows up at the very, very, very last minute… seriously the guy’s name was Michael Jackson, I am sorry but didn’t he die? Anyway, continues to be a small world as I reunited with my friend Beto Chiclete and with the help of a new friend Carlitoss from Buenes Aires, made plans to go out to Japeri to see the First-Tee-like junior golf 9-hole golf course… after I play OGC… 0-for-1… 7 days remaining… anybody out there want to invite me to play? Here’s how I met Beto on Day 93 of JTOG… LOL Beto’s FB post always translate to “Friends of the Face” which cracks me up every time my “Friends of the Face”…

I wasn't clever enough to get past Golf Superintendent Neil Cleverly even though I had a bonafide invitation from the Golf Course Architect Neil Hanse. Doesn't the architect trump the superintendent? Oh well, I will have to come back to Rio to play the Olympic Golf Course some day soon!

“Hell, I saw one mosquito the whole time I was down there and it was at the bar at the Hilton drinking a Jack Daniels because I don’t think it trusted the water.” Only Feherty could come up with a great line like this!   (Facebook Post with 1 link, Andy Reistetter, 8-23-16)

Now 0-for-2 on playing the Olympic Golf Course… just missed out on the outing yesterday and today the superintendent politely but firmly told me it ain’t going to happen without prior authorization. So next step is to go through diplomatic channels… any Olympic Diplomats out there? Went down to Itahanga GC but they had a NIKE outing. Hey, the Olympics is over, shouldn’t everyone be back to work by now? LOL. Nice tour of Barra da Tijuca & came across some fascinating net fishing… the place reminded me of Confluence Park in Binghamton, the nets reminded me of smelt fishing with Dad growing up… I am bushed, up at 6 am, time for a nap… big day tomorrow with Museum of Tomorrow & Sugarloaf!   (Facebook Post with 30 pics, Andy Reistetter, 8-23-16)
